Labradorite has been a very popular stone since it was first discovered in 1770 on the isle of Paul in Labrador, Canada. Since the discovery of Labradorite, it has been found in parts of Russia, Madagascar, Australia, and Finland. It is a feldspar, meaning it is a rock that consists of aluminosilicates of potassium, calcium, and sodium. The greenish/blue light seen in Labradorite when turned is called chatoyancy, specifically called labradorescence in the case of Labradorite, which is the result of the diffraction of light within the layers of the stone.

Labradorite usually has a grey-ish base color paired with a colorful iridescence. Labradorite in a white matrix is known as Moonstone. There is a legend that the Northern Lights are captured within the minerals of Labradorite since it can be found on the coast of Labrador under the Northern Lights.

It is believed that Labradorite banishes fears and insecurities while strengthening faith in one self, as well as allowing one to gain trust in the Universe. Labradorite is known to bring the gift of serendipity, which can encourage wonderful events to occur in one’s life. This magic little stone can also be used to protect one’s aura by clearing the negative energy surrounding it.

Labradorite’s energy stimulates the throat chakra, bringing it to balance. When the throat chakra is balanced and open, it allows us to express how we feel and what we believe.

Overall, Labradorite has been bringing beauty, positive energy, and synchronicity in one’s life for hundreds of years. It is truly a unique and gorgeous stone.
